My first trip to NUH! (with me as the patient this time)

haha this is so deja vu man! i rmb 2 years ago, i was the one accompanying qiquan (who dislocated his shoulder). this time the role switched n its me instead =.=

ytd morn was a sunny n warm and i was playing bball with chris seah ningfei eugene hongfei etc (mostly co n my 61 snr guys) at chinese high bball court. when we were playing our 2nd round, 61 vs the rest, during one of the passes, i tried to intercept n shui-shui-ly the ball hit the upper part of my thumb. i thought it was a normal sprain or sth, but somehow my thumb felt like its in a awkward position, somehow more backward than usual. i still wanted to turn back n cont playing with the guys then. (someone called up for me to pass the ball to him or sth at that time too). as i was turning, i looked at my hand. wow, is that my hand? (for photo, prompt me to send u. limited period only! while stocks last)

immediately after everyone saw my hand, they stopped, reorganised the teams n cont playing without me.



of course thats not true!

they stopped n all came over. i think they r all stunned by the sight too. they then take me to consult a basketball coach (an old man) nearby. i think the coach is also stunned. he stared at it for a couple of seconds and told me that he cant help, must go n see a doctor. WHEE, the way that everyone looked so stunned made me more worried n shocked la! for some reason, i was breathing quite quickly n felt dizzy. hmm i guess thats the effect of being in a shock ba. (try seeing ur own hand in tha state)

at ard 12pm kangyu ningfei n eugene then accompanied me to NUH as its the nearest hospital as the taxi driver die die dun allow more than 4 passengers on his taxi. hmm, on the way we crapped alot, including something that ningfei commented, "wah next time when holding gal's hand, can only use right hand ah" and someone replied "*scenario: eh dun hold my hand so tightly, eh AH! told u dun hold dun hold it so tightly liao...." =.=

when we reached there, the a & e department, eugene them helped me register and for a while, we were praising the SAF welfare, cos if i werent a nsf now, b4 i do anything, just registering will cost me $90 -.-

anw we waited for 30 mins and we 碌碌徐徐 see pple who look perfectly ok going in for consultation. (not to mention the 2 yalams in police pt kit sitting behind us. OBVIOUSLY go there to take mc n chao keng nia! dun think i nvr do b4! oops) as the pain in my thumb intensified, (was purely numbness at the start) we went n kept rushing the nurses for my turn. then after taking my blood pressure immediately, i waited another 30 mins to take x-ray. -.- (then kangyu them left after my mum came to take over them hahaha =/)

after all the xray etc, i was waiting at the patient's corner (dunno waiting for wat too -.-) the pain continued to worsen. apparently, theres this quite pretty nurse who noticed me n asked if i nid a painkilleer jab. :D:D so nice of her! hahaha! anw she asked another nurse to take me though. while waiting, i overheard that nurse n the doctor saying things like "wad wad? there r 2 cai ruihong, wad wad? this guy obviously doesnt look like 30+, wad wad? the 30+ year old 1 shld be in front of the younger 1, wad wad i gav this ruihong this injection instead of that ruihong" 0.0 omg. suddenly i felt that my thumb hurts again -.-. meanwhile an old man who's on the drip, was commenting bout my situation, saying that i just nid a 1X good twist to twist back my thumb. hmm (not ur thumb obviously easy n painless la)

then male doc came n assessed my situation. (suddenly a lot of pple start crowding ard me) a round face nurse told him that i can still make my thumb straight facing up, so there shldnt be a fracture. after checking for a while, an indian wearing a red shirt came to me and tried to twist my thumb back on the spot. KNN thats the worst pain i had ever felt in my entire life la! i literally screamed n he stopped twisting. wtf. the pain worsened exponentially after that twist. the interesting thing is that i dun even know whether he's a doc or not, (he's just wearing a normal working red shirt)

after a long while, i think i waited for another 45nmins or so, i saw some nurses pushing some blue gas container (looks like fire extinguisher) to some other room. then the pretty nurse came n asked whether my pain has subsided. i told her not at all, then she asked me whether i nid another jab. haha to act garang i said dun nid n she just walked off like that -.-

after a while more, (at ard 2+ close to 3pm) an indian nurse came n asked me to follow her. so i jut walk n walk, seeing some NUS med students on the way (its quite obvious that they are students as they are....queueing -.- for some practical lessons i think. too bad didnt see anyone i know. and obviously they were all staring at my dislocated thumb which i was holding it with my another hand)

we came to this emergency resus area with alot of patients lying on those er.. movable beds that u see on tv. then i got my chance to lie on one of them. haha the feeling is damn weird n i think i was smiling, close to laughing all this while -.-. the person lying beside me is an auntie who asked me wat happened. i told her the story which i had repeated for at least 10 times that blah blah happened when i was bballing. then i asked her wat happened to her n she told me that she got too angry n her blood pressure shot up etc. hmmm

then the nurses start pushing me ard, literally, n i 1st stopped beside another old man. wanted to chat with him but he looked so serious so didnt in the end. then the nurses pushed me to a corner with those devices that can measure ur blood pressure n heartbeat. the thing that measures ur heartbeat is linked to a clip that clips on to ur finger. (a female doc, experienced 1 i thik, a senior nurse were beside me) then another indian nurse came n to my horror, she just tried to pull up my left hand, the injured hand to clip the thing on my middle finger. (to the female doc's horror too, we yelled tgt at the same time) the indian nurse immediately let go n apologised to me while clipping my other hand instead. omg, shocked 3 times a day will die 1 leh.

my heart beat was varyng from 55 to 68. i tried calming myself at times to lover my heartbeat rate n i can lower it to 55. hehe quite fun, yall shld try it next time haha *touchwood

then after a while, the nurses (the round face, snr nurse n the indian nurse who almost killed me)came, pushing the blue gas container to my side while the female doc explained to me that the container contains nitrogen oxide, aka laughing gas. its for me to inhale n i will feel slpy n less pain after that. then they will just pull my thumb n make it straight, my heartbeat shot up to 78.

so i was one hand holding the gas mask which provides me the gas, while my injured hand was with the male doc. after inhaling for a while (i still dun feel slpy), the male started pulling my thumb. OUCH! then when i was still groaning, the female doc told me its back in place alr and i look at my thumb. hmm it looks more normal alr. while the female doc was holding my thumb(its not stable) i tried moving my thumb abit n yea it did move. haha then they put a cast on it, b4 heavily bandaging it. then they told me its done n pushed me outside to wait in a wheelchair.

i waited for another 1 hr+ b4 the 1st indian nurse came n pushed me to take another x ray. the person taking the x ray changed from a chinese guy to a malay guy. after taking the xray, the chinese guy came, asking the malay guy whether he had seen his brochures. haha then i asked is it the it show's, he replied yes. haha so predictable -.-

then i went to the pharmacy where i met the old man who earlier on said i just nid a 1 X good twist. haha roughly chatted with him bout ns life then my mum n i collected my medicine n went back home. reached home at 540pm =.=
